Active/Distance Membership Application

Please complete this form in order to become a NePA Active or Distance Member.

 

Any individual who meets one of the following shall qualify for active membership:

  1. Successfully completed NALA's Certified Paralegal Program (“CP Program”); or
  2. Graduated from an American Bar Association ("ABA") approved paralegal program; or
  3. Graduated from an institutionally accredited paralegal program with not less than the equivalent of 60 semester hours of classroom study; or
  4. Graduated from a paralegal program not listed above, but has no less than six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests that such person is a qualified paralegal; or
  5. Holds a baccalaureate degree in any field, plus not less than six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests that such person is a qualified paralegal; or
  6. Minimum of three years of law related experience under the supervision of an attorney, including at least six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorneyemployer attests that such person is qualified as a paralegal; or
  7. Minimum of two years of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests that such person is a qualified paralegal.

Any individual who meets the qualifications under Section 3A as an active member and who works more than 30 miles from an active district’s meeting site/location shall qualify for distance membership.

Qualifications

B. Graduated from an American Bar Association (“ABA”) approved paralegal program. ATTACH - copy of degree.

 

C. Graduated from an institutionally accredited paralegal program with not less than the equivalent of 60 semester hours of classroom study. ATTACH - certificate or equivalent.

 

D. Graduated from a paralegal program not listed above and has no less than six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests below that such person is a qualified paralegal. ATTACH - certificate or equivalent AND attorney attestation.

 

E. Holds a baccalaureate degree in any field, plus not less than six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests below that such person is a qualified paralegal. Attach copy of degree. ATTACH - copy of degree.

 

F. Minimum of three years of law related experience under the supervision of an attorney, including at least six months of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests below that such person is a qualified paralegal. ATTACH - attorney attestation.

 

G. Minimum of two years of in-house training as a paralegal, whose attorney-employer attests below that such person is a qualified paralegal. ATTACH - attorney attestation.
